Wizkid Sets New Record as ‘Piece of My Heart’ Hits 1.01 Million Streams on Spotify
Nigerian music star Wizkid has set a remarkable new record on Spotify with his latest single, “Piece of My Heart.” The song reached an incredible 1.01 million streams on its first day, showcasing Wizkid’s widespread appeal and popularity.
The track, featuring American singer Brent Faiyaz, was highly anticipated by fans. Their collaboration combines Wizkid’s signature Afrobeat style with Faiyaz’s soulful R&B sound, creating a unique and engaging musical blend.
Turntable Charts, via X (formerly Twitter), confirmed that “Piece of My Heart” hit the 1.01 million-stream milestone, surpassing the previous first-day record on Spotify Nigeria, held by Wizkid’s previous collaboration with Asake on “MMS” (870K streams) and “IDK” featuring Zlatan (626K streams).
This achievement makes “Piece of My Heart” the first African song to exceed 1 million streams on its debut day on Spotify. It’s also the lead single from Wizkid’s upcoming album, “Morayo,” set to be released on November 22.
Produced by P2J and Dpat, the song blends smooth, heartfelt lyrics with themes of love and devotion. Faiyaz’s emotional chorus, “Nothing can tear us apart, you’ve got a piece of my heart,” paired with Wizkid’s powerful vocals, enhances the song’s emotional depth. Fans are already excited for what’s to come from Wizkid’s album.
