Wike Declares He Will Never Support Fubara Again
In a recent development, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced that he will no longer support his former ally, Siminalayi Fubara, who is the Governor of Rivers State.
Wike made it clear that he is against certain PDP governors who are trying to reduce his political influence in his own state. He warned that if they try to push him aside, he won’t hesitate to create political trouble in their states as well.
In a Friday night interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike stated, “I will never support Fubara again. I want people to know that I don’t go back on my word. It’s not just about me. People worked hard to build the structure that got you where you are.
“I made sacrifices, spoke to various groups, and now you accuse me of demanding large sums of money. I helped you rise, and now you say I’m asking for too much. It’s unfair.”
Regarding the PDP governors, Wike said, “I’ve told the PDP Governors Forum, and I stand by it. The sky won’t fall because of this. Even if it did, it would bring peace. When I was governor, the only governor I didn’t know was the one from Zamfara. I don’t even recognize him now. I know all the others and they know me.
“You think you can just ignore our constitution? You and the other governors want to take control of the structure in Rivers state by any means necessary. You expect me, as the FCT minister, to just accept this because you’re a governor? You’re trying to stir up political trouble in my state.”
Wike also mentioned that he will not support his party’s candidate in the upcoming Edo state governorship election on September 21.
