Verydarkman issues an apology for wearing a police uniform without authorization
Controversial activist Verydarkman recently apologized to the Nigerian police for wearing a uniform that resembled theirs without permission.
A few days earlier, he surprised many by appearing in what looked like a police uniform and calling himself a “social media police,” saying he was working to clean up online spaces. The Nigerian police responded, advising him against wearing anything resembling their uniform without authorization.
In a video posted online, Verydarkman clarified that he had created a similar-looking outfit but meant no disrespect or mockery of the police force. He expressed his gratitude to the police for their dedication to public safety and issued a sincere apology to them.
After visiting the police station for questioning, he shared that he didn’t intend to impersonate the police and apologized to both the Nigerian police and the Inspector General. He also urged the public to get approval from law enforcement if they plan to use any uniform-like clothing, even with good intentions, as it could be misused by others. He thanked his lawyer, @adeyanjudeji, for his support throughout the process.
