VDM Explains How Ex-Miss SA’s Nigerian Pageant Entry Impacts Others

Controversial Nigerian critic Martins Otse has sparked a lot of debate by commenting on Chidimma Adetshina’s decision to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

Chidimma, who was a finalist in the Miss South Africa 2024 contest, faced bullying from South Africans, which led her to withdraw from that competition.

Famzi Gist had previously reported that after Chidimma dropped out of the Miss South Africa pageant, she received an invitation to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria. In a video that quickly went viral, she openly accepted the invitation to join the Nigerian beauty pageant.

Martins Otse has argued that Chidimma’s participation in Miss Universe Nigeria might negatively impact other Nigerian contestants.

He believes that the pageant organizers could prioritize her winning to send a message to South Africa, potentially undermining the chances of local competitors.

Otse also criticized the situation as unfair to Nigerian models who have dedicated years to preparing for the pageant. He suggests that their hard work could be overshadowed by the attention given to Chidimma’s involvement.

Otse’s comments have stirred a conversation about fairness and competition in beauty pageants, highlighting the tension between national pride and individual opportunities.
