Tinubu is set to serve as Nigeria’s President for a duration of 8 years, as per an agreement – Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe, the former director-general of the Obi/Datti presidential campaign, has expressed his belief that President Bola Tinubu is poised to serve two full terms, which would amount to eight years in office for Nigeria.

He explained that there is a consensus regarding a rotational presidency: the northern region has held power for eight years, and the southern region is expected to follow with an additional eight years.

Reports indicate that Okupe shared these views during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today. He pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari completed his eight-year tenure, suggesting that Tinubu could also choose to serve two terms. Okupe added that if Tinubu effectively tackles the nation’s pressing issues, he stands a good chance of winning re-election in 2027.

He praised Tinubu’s performance, suggesting that he is likely to achieve even greater accomplishments. Okupe emphasized the need for support rather than criticism, highlighting the critical nature of the current challenges facing the country and warning of severe consequences if not addressed.

Okupe expressed his strong belief that with the right backing, Tinubu could revitalize the nation, urging people to take this assertion seriously.

“Nigerians will ultimately decide,” he stated confidently. “I believe Nigerians are reasonable and sensible, not asking for too much from their leaders. If Bola Tinubu can resolve the fuel and food crises before the next election, you’ll see people rallying behind him, declaring it’s Bola or no one else.

“Bola Tinubu is not naive. He understands that if he does not succeed between now and 2027, his chances will diminish. In this country, we have an understanding that the north will serve for eight years, followed by the south for the same duration.

“Buhari may not have performed well, but we remained calm and did not raise our voices. Bola Tinubu is doing a commendable job; if fate allows and he wishes, he could serve for eight years,” the politician concluded.
