The NLC Kwara branch advocates for a 50% cut in employee taxes

The Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to slash the state’s new tax policy for workers by 50 percent.

Additionally, the NLC urged the governor to extend the tax holiday for public service employees by another three months, pointing to the persistent economic difficulties affecting citizens.

This appeal follows a similar measure granted nearly three months ago.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ilorin, NLC Chairman Muritala Olayinka lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his commitment to workers’ welfare, particularly through the timely and consistent payment of salaries and allowances—a notable improvement over past administrations.

Olayinka also acknowledged the governor’s dedication to leadership, citing impactful infrastructural projects that have enhanced the quality of life for residents.

The NLC chairman expressed heartfelt prayers for the governor’s health and wisdom, while pledging the union’s unwavering cooperation to support further advancements under his administration.

“On behalf of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara State Chapter, I convey our deep appreciation for your exemplary leadership and steadfast dedication to the progress of Kwara State and its people.

“Your Excellency’s focus on workers’ welfare is truly commendable. From ensuring prompt payment of salaries and pensions to initiating key infrastructural developments that improve living standards, your administration has shown remarkable sensitivity to the challenges faced by both the workforce and the wider community.

“We particularly applaud your strides in improving healthcare, education, and social amenities, which are essential for the well-being and productivity of the people. Your inclusive governance and open-door leadership style serve as an inspiring model.

“As committed partners in progress, we reaffirm our support for your administration in driving further growth and development for our state.

“Once again, we thank Your Excellency for your tireless efforts and pray for continued strength, wisdom, and success as you lead Kwara State to new heights,” Olayinka concluded.
