The Federal Government urges Labour to resume negotiations
The federal government has encouraged the Organized Labour group to call off their strike and return to negotiations.
Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, made a passionate request on Monday, June 3 in Abuja.
Idris noted that arguments concerning the minimum wage affect not only public employees but also those in the private sector.
He underlined the importance of all sides working together to debate and achieve a fair solution.
The minister asked the Labour Union to return to the negotiation table to reach an agreement on a fair and sustainable pay.
Idris stated that the continuous strike is creating major disruptions to key infrastructure and services.
The government is concerned about the disruptions and wants them resolved as soon as possible.
As a result, Idris made a strong request to the Labour Union to reopen talks and strive toward a mutually beneficial outcome.
