Spain Climbs to 3rd in FIFA Rankings, Super Eagles Drop
The Super Eagles have fallen to 39th place in the latest FIFA rankings, down from 38th.
Spain, now the European Champions, have jumped five places to 3rd in the world.
Despite being without a manager since Finidi George resigned, the Super Eagles are still among the top five teams in Africa.
Morocco, ranked 14th globally, is the top African team, thanks to their historic semi-final run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal’s Teranga Lions are next, ranked 19th in the world.
Mo Salah’s Egypt is 36th globally, while Sebastien Haller’s Ivory Coast is 38th, making them third and fourth in Africa, respectively.
Nigeria rounds out Africa’s top five, even with their slight drop in global ranking.
Other top African teams include Tunisia (41), Algeria (46), Cameroon (51), Mali (53), and South Africa (57).
Globally, Spain’s win at EURO 2024 has moved them from eighth to third. England, the runners-up, have also climbed to fourth.
Argentina stays at the top of the rankings after winning the 2024 Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with France holding steady in second place.
