Real Madrid secures Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer
Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid for free once his contract with Paris St-Germain ends on June 30.
The French striker verbally committed to the move in February and confirmed in May that he would leave PSG after this season.
Mbappe, 25, has signed a contract with Real Madrid and will head to Spain when the La Liga transfer window opens on July 1.
Real Madrid is expected to announce the deal next week officially and may present Mbappe at their stadium, the Bernabeu, before Euro 2024.
Mbappe, who won the World Cup in 2018, is PSG’s all-time top scorer with 256 goals since he joined them from Monaco on loan in 2017.
He has agreed to stay with Real Madrid until 2029, earning 15 million euros (£12.8 million) a season. He will also receive a signing bonus of 150 million euros (£128 million) over five years and retain a portion of his image rights.
In Madrid, Mbappe will have the opportunity to play alongside Luka Modric, who is expected to sign a new one-year contract with the club.
