Producer Joshua Ojo Shares Challenges Faced While Filming Wole Soyinka’s Biopic
Joshua Ojo, the producer of the highly anticipated Wole Soyinka biopic, has opened up about his experiences and the challenges he faced during the production of the movie. In an interview, Ojo revealed that he suffered an accident just minutes away from the film set, resulting in months of hospitalization and a significant delay in the project.
Ojo’s journey into the world of filmmaking began as an actor before he transitioned into directing. His latest project has garnered much attention, especially after actor Lateef Adedimeji teased fans with a snippet from the yet-to-be-released film in which he portrays Wole Soyinka, Africa’s first Nobel Laureate in Literature.
Discussing the biopic, Ojo shared that building the set from scratch was a monumental task. He also detailed the accident that nearly derailed the entire production, explaining how it required the project to be put on hold temporarily.
In the interview, Ojo expressed his admiration for Adedimeji, who he described as a versatile and volatile actor. “Lateef is a good thespian. He is among the most versatile and volatile performers of the modern age, and he has received no shortage of acclaim for his impactful, compelling, soulful, and immersive performances,” Ojo said.
The two have a long history of working together, dating back to their university days when they collaborated on several stage projects. “This isn’t the first time I’ll be working with him. We have done several stage projects while he was in the university, and he has also featured in some of my jobs. Working with him again was smooth and effortless,” Ojo added.
The film, which has cost millions of naira to produce, has been eagerly anticipated by fans who are excited to see Adedimeji’s portrayal of Wole Soyinka.
