Presidency Allegedly Planning to Frame and Arrest Peter Obi
The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has raised concerns about a plan to frame Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, in order to arrest him.
On Saturday, POMR released a statement in Abuja saying they were aware of “false and malicious accusations” by Bayo Onanuga, a Presidential Spokesperson, claiming Obi is behind a planned protest in the country. Onanuga even suggested Obi should be blamed for any trouble during the protest.
Dr. Tanko Yunusa, speaking for POMR, stated that these unfounded allegations are part of a scheme to arrest Obi, restrict his freedom, and silence his advocacy for good governance, which threatens the luxurious lifestyles of certain individuals.
The statement highlighted that Obi has never been associated with violence and has always focused on issues rather than personal attacks, even during the election campaign.
POMR also noted that there are efforts to prevent Obi from reaching the Nigerian public by spreading false information to distract and confuse people who see Obi as a positive force in the current political and economic turmoil.
The problems caused by the current administration’s actions, like issues with fuel subsidies, increasing poverty, inflation, nepotism, and unresolved conflicts, are being unfairly blamed on Obi.
POMR urged Nigerians to ignore these accusations, stating that Obi and his supporters, both in Nigeria and abroad, remain committed to their vision of a better Nigeria and will not be intimidated or distracted from their goal.
