Peter Obi Denies Vice Presidency Claims for 2027
Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate from the Labour Party, has denied claims that he has agreed to be a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.
Obi clarified that he is still fully committed to the Labour Party and that any potential collaborations should be honest and transparent.
He addressed these issues on X, responding to reactions from a recent interview he had with News Central TV.
Obi stated that he is not desperate to become president or hold any other position. Instead, he is open to partnering with others who share his vision for Nigeria’s progress.
In his message, he explained that he had been receiving many calls and concerns about his interview, which some people were using to spread false information. He wanted to make it clear that he is not focused on the 2027 elections while Nigeria is facing serious problems like hunger, poverty, and insecurity.
He emphasized that his openness to collaboration is based on genuine intentions and not on gaining power for its own sake. He also reiterated his commitment to the Labour Party and stated that anyone interested in working with him should be honest about their goals.
Obi clarified that he never said he would be anyone’s vice-president and remains dedicated to contributing to Nigeria’s development, even without holding an official office. If he chooses to run for any position in the future, it will not be with those aiming only for power or election victory. He wants to focus on important issues like education, health, and poverty reduction.
