Pep Guardiola pledges to lift Man City out of their slump

Pep Guardiola has vowed to turn Manchester City’s recent struggles around after their 1-1 draw against Everton on Boxing Day.

The result left the defending Premier League champions in seventh place, five points behind the top four, and a huge 14 points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.

This draw marked City’s 13th match across all competitions with only one win, raising questions about their chances of qualifying for the Champions League—something never doubted before under Guardiola’s leadership.

Despite these setbacks, the 53-year-old manager, who recently signed a two-year contract extension, is determined to help the team bounce back.

“I won’t give up,” Guardiola said. “I’m committed to making this work. Everyone wants success, and I don’t want to let down the club, the fans, or anyone who cares about this team.”

He explained the tough situation, pointing to injuries that have sidelined key players. He also praised his team’s consistency during their streak of four straight Premier League title wins.

Guardiola dismissed any idea that the poor results have shaken his confidence. Instead, he stressed his focus on getting the team back on track, noting their energy in training and signs of improvement.

With several easier fixtures coming up—including a match against Leicester City and games against three teams from the bottom half of the table—Guardiola sees this as the perfect chance to revive City’s season.
