PDP secures 12 Zamfara local governments and awaits results from the last two
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured victories in all chairmanship and councillorship positions across Zamfara State, except in Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, where the results were still pending as of Saturday night.
Hon. Bala Aliyu Gusau, the chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), announced the results, describing the election as transparent, peaceful, and credible. He emphasized that representatives from all participating political parties were present during the vote counting process, with no complaints or objections raised regarding the election’s fairness.
“The process was free, fair, and credible, and no political party disputed the conduct of the election,” Gusau affirmed.
He also mentioned that the results for Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda LGAs would be declared on Sunday.
Following the announcement, the winners will receive their certificates of return and be sworn in at the Government House later that day.
Hon. Gusau commended security agencies and stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring a smooth electoral process, adding that no reports of irregularities were received.
The PDP’s dominant performance underscores its stronghold in Zamfara State, as political analysts await the final results from the outstanding LGAs to complete the picture.
