PDP Calls for Investigation into APC and Okpebholo over Edo Policeman’s Death
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is calling for an investigation into the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their candidate for the Edo State governorship election, Monday Okpebholo. They want the APC to be examined for their alleged involvement in the violence that led to the death of a police officer in Benin City on July 18, 2024.
In a statement issued in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba said that simply offering a scholarship to the deceased officer’s children isn’t enough. He insists that the APC leaders who are accused of inciting violence must face justice for their actions, which resulted in the officer’s death.
The PDP argues that the APC should not use the scholarship offer to deflect attention from their alleged wrongdoing. They are calling for a full investigation and prosecution of the APC leaders involved.
The PDP also points out that the APC leaders appear to disregard human life and hope to avoid responsibility for their actions. They are urging the Inspector General of Police to thoroughly investigate the situation, supported by available evidence, showing that APC thugs were involved in the violence.
The PDP expresses their condolences to the officer’s family and demands that those responsible be held accountable.
