PDP accuses APC representative of attempting to buy votes in #OndoDecides2024
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns with the Nigeria Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding allegations that an agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is bribing voters.
According to the PDP Situation Room, the APC agent is reportedly offering money to voters in exchange for backing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the ongoing Ondo State gubernatorial election. The alleged vote-buying took place at Unit 5, Ward 8, Iwaro Oka, in Akoko South West Local Government Area.
The PDP has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take immediate action and arrest the accused APC agent.
The party’s statement reads, “Currently, APC agents are caught distributing money and other items to voters in Ward 8, Unit 5, Iwaro Oka, Akoko South West Local Government Area. Police, EFCC, and other security agencies, please take note.”
Additionally, the PDP had earlier alerted INEC about issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which is meant to read Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and verify voter identities. The party pointed out that the BVAS at Unit 4, Ward 7, Akoko West Local Government Area, was malfunctioning, disrupting the election process in that area.
“Voting has not yet started in Unit 04, Ward 7, Akoko West due to a faulty BVAS machine. INEC, please intervene,” the PDP added.
