Osas Ighodaro Reflects on Her Low Self-Esteem During Childhood
Nigerian actress Osas Ighodaro shared how she struggled with self-esteem as a child.
In an interview with Pulse One-on-One, Osas talked about her childhood, family, and love for acting.
She mentioned that her parents wanted her to behave in a way that respected their family’s heritage. Osas said:
“I grew up in New York with my siblings and parents. Even though we lived in the U.S., our home was very Nigerian. My parents always reminded us to remember our family and act properly. It was a wonderful upbringing.”
Osas explained that she started acting at 13 after getting a scholarship for acting classes through a modeling school. She said:
“I had to do a lot of convincing and crying, but I’m very determined when I want something.
“I had low self-esteem growing up, so they enrolled me in modeling school. After that, the school’s president offered me a scholarship for acting classes. I wasn’t introduced to acting until I was 13, but after my first class, I knew I wanted to pursue it. I’ve been passionate about acting ever since.”
