Ortom Tells Bello: Surrender to EFCC, Stop Hiding.
Ex-Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom recently advised former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to stop hiding and face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ortom’s viewpoint is that it’s unfair for Bello to evade the EFCC’s inquiries regarding his tenure as governor by staying in hiding.
Chief Ortom delivered this advice on Sunday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Regional Headquarters in Makurdi during a thanksgiving service organized by his former appointees to celebrate his 63rd birthday.
He emphasized that evading the EFCC’s invitation and attempting to flee would tarnish the reputation of former governors and bring shame upon them.
Ortom specifically addressed former Governor Yahaya Bello, urging him not to disgrace the fraternity of former governors. He emphasized the importance of complying with the EFCC’s requests to account for one’s actions during their time in office.
“You shouldn’t hide from the EFCC or resist arrest. Just go there and explain. The EFCC is staffed by humans who are simply doing their job,” Ortom emphasized.
“I’ve attempted to reach him by phone and through those close to him, but I’ve had no success. Wherever he is, if he can hear me, he should present himself before the EFCC,” Ortom urged.
