NDLEA Captures Male Traveler With 4,000 Tramadol Pills at MMIA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) caught a man at the Muhammad Murtala International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos with 4,000 tramadol pills. This information was shared in a statement by Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, in Abuja.

Babafemi explained that NDLEA officers at the gate ‘C’ departure hall of the Lagos airport stopped the suspect on Friday. The suspect was trying to take the pills to Malpensa, Italy, using an Ethiopian Airline flight.

So basically, NDLEA arrested a man at the Lagos airport who had 4,000 tramadol pills. They found out about this through a statement by Mr. Femi Babafemi from NDLEA’s Media and Advocacy department. The man was caught trying to take the pills to Italy on an Ethiopian Airline flight.

The drugs were hidden inside women’s clothing and granulated melon, all packed in the suspect’s backpack along with another bag containing food items.

The suspect, who travels often, admitted that he was promised 700 Euros once he successfully delivered the drugs in Italy.

In a separate incident in Bayelsa, NDLEA operatives arrested a 28-year-old woman in the Amarata area of Yenagoa on April 24th.

Babafemi explained that she was caught because she was making and selling cakes infused with illegal drugs, particularly cannabis sativa.

When she was arrested, they found a significant amount of these drugged cakes, weighing 1.5 kilograms, in her possession.

In Yenagoa, a 20-year-old hair stylist and a dispatch rider were arrested by NDLEA operatives on March 10 for a similar crime.

Similarly, in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, individuals were apprehended with 24,180 ampoules of pentazocine injection, weighing 135.5 kilograms.

Babafemi also mentioned that a teenager was caught with 20.700 kilograms of cannabis during a raid on his house in the Shuware area of Mubi, Adamawa state, on April 26.

In another incident, NDLEA operatives found and seized 310.7 kilograms of cannabis on April 25 during a raid in parts of Mushin in Lagos state.
