Misguided Worship in the Lord’s Chosen Church Explained by Patrick Doyle

Veteran Nigerian broadcaster Patrick Doyle has criticized the phrase “I am a chosen,” which is often used by followers of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement. His remarks come as online creators and bloggers use this phrase in a sarcastic way.

In a Facebook post, Doyle questioned how appropriate it is to connect this phrase with Christianity, suggesting it puts the church’s leader, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, above Jesus Christ.

He expressed his worries about how the phrase is understood, saying it doesn’t align with Christian beliefs.

He wrote that the phrase should not be linked to the Body of Christ, as those who say it don’t have Jesus in mind. Instead, their focus is solely on their leader and his movement. He argued that using the phrase as if it honors Jesus is a misunderstanding of the faith.

Doyle noted that bloggers making fun of the phrase are not mocking Christianity but rather the specific group and its leader.

He criticized members of the clergy who see this as an attack on the faith, stating they are mistaken.

He added that their defense only supports a group that has placed its leader above Jesus. While he doesn’t support mocking the church, he believes this situation isn’t an attack on Christianity itself.
