Lamine Yamal wins the prestigious 2024 Golden Boy, crowned as the best young footballer worldwide

Barcelona’s rising star, Lamine Yamal, has added another remarkable achievement to his growing career, winning the prestigious 2024 Golden Boy award on Wednesday.

At just 17 years old, Yamal becomes the youngest player ever to claim the award, which honors the best male footballer under 21 worldwide.

He is also the third Barcelona player in four years to win the accolade, following in the footsteps of Pedri and Gavi.

Already boasting an impressive trophy collection, Yamal earned the Kopa Trophy at the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony.

His breakout year saw him play a pivotal role in Spain’s victory at the European Championship, as well as contributing to Barcelona’s ongoing rebuild under manager Hansi Flick.

During the Euro tournament, Yamal was named the Young Player of the Tournament and was selected for the Team of the Tournament.

His stunning semifinal goal against France was recognized as the Goal of the Tournament.

At Barcelona, Yamal continues to set records, surpassing age-related benchmarks for goals, assists, and appearances.

Although sidelined recently with an ankle injury, Coach Flick remains hopeful that he will return for the match against Las Palmas.
