Kidnapped FUNAAB Student Tragically Murdered in Lagos
A tragic event unfolded when Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was kidnapped and killed. Christiana was abducted while traveling between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State, where she was doing her industrial training at the University of Lagos.
Security agencies worked together to arrest the suspect. A user on X (formerly Twitter), shared how investigators traced the suspect through the BVN and bank details linked to the ransom money paid by Christiana’s family.
According to the post, Christiana was declared missing on August 19, 2024. Her abductors used her WhatsApp to contact her family, demanding N1,500,000 in ransom. Her parents quickly raised N350,000, which the abductor asked them to deposit into a betting account. After receiving the money, the abductor requested a bank statement from the family but stopped communicating after they complied on August 23.
Meanwhile, the investigators discovered that a portion of the ransom was transferred from Christiana’s account to a Wema Bank account belonging to the suspect. The operatives tracked the suspect’s phone and eventually arrested him at his family’s home in Ikorodu. Evidence, including Christiana’s phone and records linking the suspect to the crime, was found.
The suspect later confessed to killing Christiana and burying her in his home. He also admitted to being involved in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and his sister in previous years, raising even more alarm.
The horrifying story has sparked outrage across Nigeria, especially on social media, where the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah has gained traction as people demand justice for her.
