Kenneth Okonkwo’s Dramatic Exit from Labour Party and Criticism of Peter Obi
Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent Nollywood actor and former APC politician who became a spokesperson for the Labour Party, has made a significant impact on the Nigerian political scene.
Recently, Okonkwo announced his decision to leave the Labour Party (LP) after only 18 months of alignment with Peter Obi and the Obidient movement. This revelation was shared in a detailed post on his social media page.
In his post, Okonkwo provided a comprehensive explanation for his departure from the LP and its former presidential candidate. He expressed his disappointment in Obi’s leadership, which he felt was not strong enough to sustain the momentum of the Obidient movement.
Okonkwo joined the Labour Party with high hopes that Peter Obi would lead a new generation of leaders capable of replacing the current corrupt officials in power. Unfortunately, he felt that Obi’s leadership failed to meet these expectations.
Additionally, Okonkwo criticized Obi for mishandling the internal conflicts that have plagued the Labour Party over the past nine months. He believed these issues were not addressed effectively, leading to further dissatisfaction within the party.
The former APC member also pointed out that some of Peter Obi’s recent actions have caused a loss of trust and loyalty among his supporters. Okonkwo’s discontent with Obi’s approach has significantly influenced his decision to leave the party.
