Kenneth Okonkwo Criticizes Labour Party Leadership, Signals Potential Party Switch
Peter Obi’s strong ally, Kenneth Okonkwo, has shared startling revelations about the internal crisis within the Labour Party. Okonkwo criticized the leadership under Julius Abure and other top executives, expressing readiness to join another party if necessary. The Nollywood actor turned politician left the APC in 2022 due to its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
In an interview with Symfoni, Okonkwo did not rule out rejoining another party if the Labour Party fails to hold a legitimate national convention. He also called for the arrest of Abure and his National Executive Committee members, asserting that their tenures have expired. Okonkwo described the convention held in Nnewi, Anambra state, as invalid due to non-compliance with legal procedures.
“Any party that is not visibly committed to the welfare of Nigerians will most likely not see me there. Change is constant, so I don’t rule out going back to anything,” Okonkwo stated. He labeled the current Labour Party leadership as a “joke” and accused them of lacking integrity. “Aburi and his cohorts, their tenure is over. They are workers of iniquity and should be apprehended,” he asserted.
