Gunmen have launched an attack on an Ebonyi police station
On Tuesday, June 4, gunmen attacked the Ohaukwu Police Division in Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu local government area, setting vehicles on fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured as the police on duty successfully repelled the attackers.
A witness mentioned that around eight gunmen arrived in a bus and began shooting wildly, causing panic in the area.
The attack also interrupted the distribution of aid by the Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Ikechukwu Odono, at the Council Headquarters next to the police station.
“Everyone, including the chairman, fled to avoid being hit by the gunfire,” the witness said.
Odono confirmed the incident, stating that although no lives were lost, some vehicles at the police station were burned.
He also noted that the attack halted the aid distribution as people ran to safety.
Efforts to reach the police spokesperson, Ukandu Joshua, for comments were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls or respond to messages.
