Guardiola Provides Injury Update on Erling Haaland Before Chelsea vs Man City
Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, said that striker Erling Haaland might play in the team’s last pre-season match against Chelsea on Saturday.
Haaland had to be taken off during a game against FC Barcelona because of some minor muscle issues. Guardiola explained that they took him off as a precaution to prevent making the problem worse.
Guardiola mentioned that Haaland wasn’t feeling great, so they decided not to risk it. However, he will need to start training and playing soon as the new season is just about to begin.
Guardiola updated that Haaland is now feeling much better and might be ready for the Chelsea game. With the season starting soon and backup striker Julian Alvarez not available, Guardiola may need to try other options if Haaland isn’t fit.
In recent games, Guardiola has tried players like Jack Grealish, Oscar Bobb, James McAtee, and Rico Lewis in the false-nine role. If Haaland can’t play, McAtee might take on that role, and we might see more tactical changes against Chelsea.
