FG declares National Library will stand as an emblem of hope
The federal government has promised to finish the National Library project as soon as possible.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, described the library as a symbol of hope, knowledge, and unity that will bring a fresh start for education in the country. He shared these thoughts during a meeting on Wednesday with key groups involved in the project, including contractors, consultants, and officials from the National Library of Nigeria and the TETFund.
The project, which began in 2009, has faced many delays. Minister Alausa assured everyone that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to reviving and completing this important initiative.
He stated that the Ministry of Education, under President Tinubu’s direction, is working to ensure the library is finished and ready for use. The goal is to provide millions of Nigerians with a space to learn, study, and grow.
“This isn’t just another building. The National Library will be a place of hope and knowledge, representing a brighter future for education in Nigeria,” the Minister said.
He also announced that Nigerian history will return to the school curriculum starting in 2025 for primary, secondary, and higher education.
“Our hope is that this library will inspire pride in our history, encourage learning, and foster patriotism in young Nigerians. It reflects this government’s dedication to providing quality education for everyone and building a united, brighter Nigeria,” Alausa added.
