Diddy: Jay Z faces accusations of raping a minor, strongly denies the claims

Jay-Z has strongly denied accusations that he and fellow hip-hop star Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.

The allegations were made in an updated civil lawsuit filed against Combs on Sunday, which now includes Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, as a co-defendant. Previously, Carter had been referred to only as “Celebrity A.”

The lawsuit claims that the girl was assaulted in front of other celebrities, who allegedly did nothing to intervene. Both Carter and Combs are accused of committing the crime, though the plaintiff’s identity remains anonymous.

In response, Jay-Z accused the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, of attempting blackmail. He shared a statement on Roc Nation’s social media, saying:

“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, disguised as a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. He believed the public attention from these accusations would pressure me into settling. But it had the opposite effect. It only made me want to expose him for the fraud he is.”

Carter also argued that if the claims were true, they should be handled through criminal charges, not a civil suit. “These accusations are so serious, I urge you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one. Whoever committed such a crime should be locked up. These victims deserve real justice.”

Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the plaintiff, told AFP that the lawsuit speaks for itself, emphasizing the seriousness of the case and the intention to pursue it in court.

Meanwhile, Combs, who is facing sex trafficking and racketeering charges, has denied all allegations against him. Federal prosecutors accuse him of running a coercive network involving drug-fueled parties and threats of violence. His criminal trial is set for May 2025. Over 100 alleged victims are reportedly preparing to take legal action against him, according to Buzbee.

Jay-Z, a billionaire entrepreneur, producer, and rapper, is married to global superstar Beyoncé.
