Dele Momodu Speaks Out Against FG’s Age Limit Rule for WAEC and NECO
Famous Nigerian journalist and businessman Dele Momodu has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its new rule that students must be at least 18 years old to take the National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.
The policy, which was announced on August 26, has caused a lot of discussions, with many people questioning how practical it is.
Concerned citizens are worried about what secondary school graduates, usually 15 or 16 years old, will do during the years they have to wait before they can take university entrance exams.
Joining the debate, Dele Momodu expressed his concerns on Instagram. He pointed to the achievements of Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman as an example against the new rule.
Dr. Tillman, who began her university education at the age of 10, had earned an Associate Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree, and a Master’s Degree by the time she was 14. At just 17 years old, she received her doctoral degree in integrated behavioral health from Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions.
