Brain Jotter Refutes Claims of Profiting from Mike Ejeagha’s ‘Gwo Gwo Ngwo
Comedian Brain Jotter has addressed worries about him profiting from using Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo.”
Recently, Brain Jotter started a dance challenge using Ejeagha’s song, which made many people happy, according to Gistreel.
Mike Ejeagha, now 93 years old, wrote the song over 40 years ago.
Brain Jotter’s use of the song has caught attention on social media, raising questions about copyright and profits.
In a statement on Tuesday, Brain Jotter clarified that he is not making any money from the viral challenge.
He said: “For those worried we might be taking advantage of him or making money from this, your concerns are valid. I appreciate your care for his hard work. But I want you to know that we are not making any money from this.”
In a video of his visit to the music legend, Brain Jotter explained, “I haven’t made any money from this song.”
He also described how content monetization works on different platforms.
Brain Jotter added: “All the revenue from this music on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube – everything – goes to Mike Ejeagha’s record label, his production company.
“You can’t make money from someone else’s song because these platforms have copyright checks. If I post the video on YouTube, YouTube gives the revenue to Mike Ejeagha because of copyright. The same goes for Facebook.
“The song has gained a lot of streams on streaming platforms, but I can’t put it there. So, all the revenue goes directly to Mike Ejeagha.”
