Berbatov probes into Rashford’s challenges, hinting at factors beyond the pitch
Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has expressed concern about Marcus Rashford’s recent struggles on the pitch, speculating that personal issues outside football might be at play.
At 26, Rashford has yet to regain his form this season, with only one goal in the Premier League so far. Although the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim could bring renewed opportunities, Berbatov suspects that the cause of Rashford’s struggles may be rooted in personal matters.
Speaking with talkSPORT, Berbatov said, “He has the talent. He’s still young, just 26, and hasn’t even hit his peak yet. But something is clearly affecting him. What exactly? I can’t say. Is it his surroundings? His home life? Family or friends?”
Berbatov emphasized the significance of one’s environment beyond the game, saying, “Your friends, how they speak to you, and whether they push you matter a lot. They need to be honest with you, even bluntly—like saying, ‘You’re not performing, you need to step up.’”
