““Becky Enenche lied”” – Reno Omokri challenges Paul Enenche’s wife’s claims about tithing
Renowned activist Reno Omokri has criticized Becky Enenche, wife of Paul Enenche, over her statement suggesting that missing a tithe resets one’s progress in life.
Becky Enenche’s comments sparked widespread debate after she claimed failing to tithe meant returning to square one. In response, Omokri took to Instagram to call her out, accusing her of spreading falsehoods and using religion as a tool for financial exploitation.
Omokri argued that this distorted version of Christianity diverges from the teachings of Jesus Christ. He referred to it as a monetized scam, where faith is commercialized for profit, tarnishing the reputation of Christianity in Nigeria.
In a lengthy critique, Omokri highlighted how Christianity has been politicized, especially during Nigeria’s 2023 elections. He accused Paul Enenche of using the pulpit to campaign for Peter Obi, even cursing alleged election riggers. Despite these claims, Omokri noted that President Bola Tinubu appears to be thriving, undermining Enenche’s proclamations.
To further clarify his stance, Omokri delved into biblical scripture. He explained that the term “devourer” in Malachi 3:11, often misinterpreted in the King James Bible, originally referred to agricultural pests. He cited several modern Bible translations to show that the passage addresses crop protection, not divine punishment for withholding tithes.
Omokri emphasized that tithing in biblical times was an agricultural practice meant to support Levitical priests, who lacked land inheritance. He pointed out that even Jesus Christ only mentioned tithes in relation to agriculture and criticized Pharisees for neglecting justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
He concluded by stating that there is no scriptural basis for monetary tithes, with agricultural produce or alcoholic beverages being the only acceptable alternatives under Mosaic law, as detailed in Deuteronomy 14:24-26.
