Atiku Raises An Alarm: Where’s Tinubu, Shettima in Aso Rock?
Atiku Abubakar, the ex-vice president of Nigeria, worries that President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima haven’t been seen at the presidential villa, where they usually work.
Atiku, who used to run for president under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared his concerns in a statement on Monday, May 6.
What prompted Tinubu and Shettima to depart from Aso Rock?
Atiku expressed concern about the news that the president and vice president were not in Nigeria at the same time. He mentioned that the country is facing serious challenges right now.
President Tinubu was recently seen attending the 2024 Special World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on April 27 and 28.
There hasn’t been much information from the presidency about where the president is, which has led to questions from the opposition.
Vice President Shettima left Nigeria on Sunday, May 5, to go to Dallas, USA, to represent President Tinubu at the US-Africa Business Summit 2024.
“I have been inundated by reports of the absence of the president and vice president from the country. It is unprecedented that the two leaders will be absent from the country at the same time, especially now that the nation is faced with daunting challenges.”
