As a Yoruba-speaking actor, I rank among the highest-paid in Nigeria – Ibrahim Chatta

Actor and film director Ibrahim Chatta has responded to the ongoing claim that he is underrated in the movie industry. During a recent interview on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, Chatta confidently stated that he is one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria.

He addressed the misconception, saying, “People often say I’m underrated, but I’m not. I’m one of the top-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in the country.”

Chatta shared his journey in the entertainment industry, beginning from humble origins. He started out creating promotional jingles and movie soundtracks for over 400 films and companies. His hard work and determination eventually led to his success.

Recalling his struggles, he mentioned, “There was a time I told my mom I was fine and didn’t need any food sent, but the truth was, I wasn’t doing well. So, I would work as a bus conductor for a week or two, then send money to my parents in Kwara to assure them I was okay.”

Chatta’s breakthrough came when he began composing soundtracks and jingles. “I worked on soundtracks for over 400 films and jingles for more than 400 companies. Back then, I wasn’t known as an actor. I had studios in Ikeja and other places, and at one point, I was a studio rat, writing, singing, and performing,” he reminisced.
