Ali Ndume Reaffirms Criticism of Tinubu Despite Ganduje’s Comments
The former Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, said he stands by his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration made during an Arise TV interview.
He has no regrets about his comments and accepts his removal by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in good faith.
In his interview, Ndume expressed disappointment over President Tinubu’s inaction on poverty, insecurity, and hunger. Following his remarks, the APC asked Ndume to resign and consider joining another party.
He was also removed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and offered the Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Tourism, which he declined, stating he has no experience in tourism.
Speaking in Maiduguri, Ndume said he initially refrained from reacting due to mourning but now feels it’s the right time to speak.
He believes it’s patriotic to support a president who serves the country well and unpatriotic to stay silent if the president fails. Ndume thanks those who supported his statements about the hardships under President Tinubu.
Ndume accepts his removal as Chief Whip as an act of God and holds no grudges. He clarifies that he did not seek the positions he was given but was elected to represent Southern Borno. At 64, he feels content and uninterested in the Tourism Committee role.
He appreciates the recent minimum wage increase but notes it’s still insufficient given the high cost of living.
Regarding suggestions to join another party, Ndume emphasizes his commitment to APC and will follow the advice of his supporters and constituency.
He won’t take legal action and has entrusted his case to God. He urges his supporters to remain calm, pray for peace, and abide by the law.
