Funke Akindele’s ‘Everybody Loves Jennifer’ Breaks Box Office Records with a N40 Million Opening

Funke Akindele’s latest movie, Everybody Loves Jennifer (ELJ), has made a huge impact at the box office, earning over ₦45.2 million on its opening day. This achievement sets a new record for the biggest opening day for a Nollywood film.

The Nigerian Box Office (NBO) announced on its official X account that the movie had over 9,000 ticket sales on its first day, surpassing the 8,870 admissions of Akindele’s previous hit, A Tribe Called Judah (ATCJ). This count excludes advanced screenings and accounts for challenges like missing screenings at some cinemas.

The NBO also hinted that the final figures might increase slightly. The film stars top Nollywood talents like Nancy Isime, Bisola Aiyeola, and Stan Nze.

Funke Akindele has a proven track record of success in the Nigerian film industry. Last year, her movie A Tribe Called Judah made history by becoming the first Nollywood film to gross over ₦1 billion, ending its theatrical run with ₦1.4 billion.

Known for her creativity, dedication, and consistency, Akindele has been producing high-quality movies for years, cementing her position as one of Nollywood’s leading figures. Her continued success is a testament to her hard work and talent.
