How I Played a Role in Defining Wizkid’s Musical Sound – Eldee
Singer Eldee The Don recently opened up about his role in shaping Wizkid’s early career. In an interview on the Adesope Live show, Eldee explained how he influenced Wizkid’s musical direction during his early days in the industry.
At the time, Wizkid was signed to the EME record label and was mostly focused on Reggae and Dancehall music. Eldee recalled how Wizkid’s musical style was leaning heavily toward these genres when he first joined the label.
However, Eldee felt that Wizkid could achieve more success by incorporating elements of Nigerian music into his sound. He advised Wizkid to find a way to blend his passion for Reggae and Dancehall with local Nigerian influences.
Eldee’s advice was to create a style that would resonate with Nigerian audiences while still allowing Wizkid to stay true to his musical roots. He believed that by doing this, Wizkid could create something unique and appealing to a wider audience.
Reflecting on this, Eldee mentioned, “Wizkid was focused on Reggae and Dancehall when Banky W signed him, but I told him he needed to mix things up and create something with Nigerian flavors.” This advice played a significant role in Wizkid’s evolution as an artist.
