Kwankwaso condemns the harsh bail terms imposed on minors involved in #EndBadGovernance protests
Former Kano State Governor and NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has voiced serious concerns about the bail conditions for minors arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protests. Kwankwaso criticized the large-scale arraignment of these children, arguing it violates basic human rights and dignity.
Posting on his X account, Kwankwaso highlighted the poor health of the minors, noting their need for medical care and education, not court trials. He found it deeply troubling that so many minors are facing such severe legal consequences, saying it contradicts protections for children under the law.
Kwankwaso also condemned the high bail terms, which include a requirement for minors to secure 10 million Naira and have a high-ranking civil servant as a guarantor. He cited the Child’s Rights Act, which protects children from harm and abuse, urging leaders to defend vulnerable groups like children.
He further called on the government to shift focus toward pressing national issues, such as banditry, kidnappings, terrorism, power instability, and harsh economic policies, instead of targeting minors in this way.
