Asari Dokubo reveals he emptied his finances to see Tinubu become the nation’s president

Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo shared on Tuesday that he drained his bank account, investing over $2 million to support President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for the 2023 presidential election. Dokubo explained that this big financial step was driven by his belief in Tinubu’s ability to bring positive change to the Niger Delta.

Appearing on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Dokubo expressed his loyalty, saying, “If Tinubu faces any challenges, I’ll stand by him, just as he supported me at one time.”

In his podcasts, Dokubo also emphasized that his personal needs are modest, allowing him to speak honestly to Tinubu as president. He clarified he didn’t seek any government position or favors and that his financial support wasn’t driven by personal gain. He stated, “I spent more than two million dollars and lost track of what I spent in Naira. I didn’t receive anything from anyone except Ijakry, who contributed N300 million.”
