Source Reveals Real Reasons President Tinubu Sacked Ministers

President Bola Tinubu initiated a significant cabinet overhaul on Wednesday, resulting in the removal of six ministers and the appointment of seven new ones, including notable figures like Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, widow of the former Biafran leader.

This change came during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by the President. Among those dismissed were Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State Minister for Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).

The new appointees are set to take on key roles, with Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda replacing the suspended Betta Chimaobim Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Other notable nominations include Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Idi Maiha, who will head the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.

Yusuf Ata has been named the new Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, while Suwaiba Ahmad will become the Minister of State for Education.

Bianca Ojukwu has been nominated as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.

As part of broader restructuring, the FEC approved renaming the Ministry of Niger Delta Development to the Ministry of Regional Development, which will now manage regional development commissions across the Niger Delta, South East, North East, and North West.

Additionally, the Ministry of Sports Development has been dissolved, with its responsibilities transferred to the National Sports Commission to boost the nation’s sports economy.

The Ministry of Tourism has merged with the Ministry of Arts and Culture, now rebranded as the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy.

Insiders from the presidency revealed to *The Whistler* that the reshuffle is aimed at bolstering the administration’s ability to implement President Tinubu’s reforms, reflecting a strategic move to enhance the government’s efficiency and responsiveness to national needs.

“There’s a general sentiment, even among his aides and the public, that the cabinet has room for improvement,” shared one source, who spoke under anonymity.
