Falz tells Verydarkman, ‘If you’re looking for trouble, that’s my specialty

Nigerian rapper Falz has spoken out for the first time about the defamation lawsuit he filed against social media personality, VeryDarkMan (VDM). The lawsuit came after VDM accused Falz and his father, the well-known human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), of helping the popular crossdresser Bobrisky escape money laundering charges.

On a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, Falz shared details about a conversation he had with VDM after the viral video making these false claims was posted. According to Falz, even though he tried to address the issue calmly, VDM became defensive right away.

“This guy got defensive immediately. I was like, ‘Bro, can you just listen?’ But he just fired back, ‘Aren’t you a lawyer? Take it to court,’” Falz recalled.

Falz mentioned that he had the option to take criminal action for defamation but decided not to. “I could’ve gone down the criminal route, and he could’ve been arrested. What he posted was complete rubbish and totally false. I asked him to take it down and apologize within a set time, but he did nothing,” the rapper said.

Falz expressed his frustration not just about the false accusations but also about the disrespect toward his father, Femi Falana, who is widely respected for standing up for the oppressed.

“I wasn’t looking for trouble. I was minding my own business, and then he turns on his ring light and starts spreading lies about me. Does he think I’ll just stay quiet? He insulted everything my father stands for—helping those in need. Where’s the respect in that? There’s an old saying: if a child tries to stop his mother from sleeping, he won’t sleep either,” Falz added emotionally.

“If you want to pick a fight, then fine—fighting is what I do. If that’s what you’re after, let’s do it,” he concluded.
