Okocha outlines 2027 plans against Fubara, acknowledges Wike’s enduring power in Rivers
Tony Okocha, the embattled leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has asserted that Nyesom Wike’s political influence, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), remains unshakable.
He further hinted that Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State is causing difficulties for himself.
Okocha disclosed that efforts are already underway to undermine Fubara ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Reports indicate that despite attempts at reconciliation by President Bola Tinubu and other prominent political figures, the conflict between Wike and Fubara continues.
Wike has expressed his willingness to settle the disagreement but maintains that Fubara must adhere to the rule of law.
In a conversation with reporters in Abuja, Okocha remarked, “It was Wike who made Fubara governor. He wasn’t involved in politics before that.
“Fubara is digging his own grave. It’s our job to weaken him and his party so we can win in 2027.
“For the next decade, I don’t foresee any politician dismantling Wike’s political structure in Rivers State.
“I’m no prophet, but I’m speaking about what’s feasible. Wike’s influence is indestructible, at least not anytime soon. I’ll leave it at that.”
