Power Restored by AEDC After National Grid Outage
Power has been restored to parts of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) service areas following a major power outage on Monday evening, which affected several regions in Nigeria.
The outage was caused by a collapse of the national grid and impacted areas like Dei-Dei, Suleja, Lugbe, Kuje, and nearby locations.
By around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, electricity had returned to some of these places, bringing relief to residents affected by the blackout.
Earlier, AEDC informed customers that the outage was due to the grid collapse.
In a post on their X account, AEDC mentioned that the grid collapsed at around 6:58 p.m. on Monday.
They assured customers they were working with the necessary stakeholders to restore power once the grid was stable.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) noted that the grid collapse on Monday was only partial.
At around 6:48 p.m. on Monday, Nigeria experienced widespread power failure.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the grid collapse in a statement by its spokesperson, Emeka Ezeh, and it was also confirmed by the Abuja and Eko Electricity Distribution Companies.
TCN reported that all eleven distribution companies received zero power allocation but stated they were working on recovering the system to restore supply. This was confirmed by TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, speaking to the Daily Post on Monday.
