Tinubu vows to reduce hardship and make life more affordable

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that his government is rolling out targeted strategies to ease the growing cost of living for Nigerians.

In his speech marking the 64th Independence Anniversary, he stressed the administration’s dedication to tackling economic difficulties and ensuring that basic goods and services stay within reach for all citizens.

Among the key initiatives Tinubu highlighted were potential subsidies, encouragement for domestic production, and policies to regulate prices in critical sectors.

He expressed optimism that these efforts would create a more sustainable economic environment, enhancing the well-being of the people.

“The rising cost of living, particularly food prices, is a major concern for our citizens and is being felt worldwide as costs continue to surge globally,” Tinubu noted.

“My fellow Nigerians, rest assured that we are actively implementing measures to bring down the cost of living here at home,” the President said.

He praised the governors of Kebbi, Niger, Jigawa, Kwara, Nasarawa, and the Southwest for adopting his administration’s agricultural production initiatives.

“I encourage other states to collaborate with the Federal Government in advancing mechanized farming. We’re contributing by providing fertilizers and making tractors and other agricultural equipment accessible,” Tinubu added.

He also mentioned that the Federal Executive Council had recently approved the establishment of a local plant to assemble 2,000 John Deere tractors and other farm equipment, expected to be completed in six months.

On energy, Tinubu assured Nigerians that the government’s energy transition program was progressing as planned.

“We’re advancing the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas for public transport in partnership with private sector stakeholders,” he said.

The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to assisting all states and the FCT in acquiring CNG buses for more affordable public transport options.

“As we continue working to stabilize the economy and ensure security, we are equally committed to fostering national unity and social harmony,” Tinubu concluded.
