Bishop Kukah Calls on APC to Address Fuel Price Hike in Nigeria
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, has called on the Nigerian government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), to quickly lower the current fuel prices to ease the hardship people are facing.
Speaking on Friday in Abuja at the launch of The Progressive Institute (TPI), the APC’s think tank, Kukah emphasized that many Nigerians are struggling to meet basic needs. He shared a story about a girl who, when asked about her political affiliation, replied, “I am hungry,” highlighting the widespread hunger in the country. Kukah urged the government to address this issue by reducing fuel costs.
He also expressed concern about the state of democracy in Nigeria, stating that unless it is built on a strong foundation, it will remain unstable. Kukah stressed the need for reforms to strengthen the country’s democratic system.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s deputy, Senator Barau Jibrin, and other key leaders like Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.
