Ganduje’s Approach to Weakening Opposition in the Southeast States
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, announced the creation of an intellectual wing called the Progressive Institute to help the party address national issues and offer solutions to the country’s challenges.
During a discussion with members of the Kano Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ganduje mentioned that the APC is gearing up to defeat opposition parties in upcoming elections in Edo and Anambra states and has plans to strengthen its influence in the South Eastern states.
He explained that the intellectual wing was established to focus on important national issues, analyze them, and provide recommendations to the government. Ganduje highlighted a past national conference on livestock reforms as an example, noting that it addressed conflicts between farmers and herders, ultimately leading to the creation of a ministry of livestock.
Ganduje also discussed plans to address the rising unemployment in the country, particularly among youth, by organizing a national conference to modernize the national curriculum, including university courses, to ensure graduates are more employable.
Regarding the upcoming elections in Edo, Ondo, and Anambra states, Ganduje expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim Edo, maintain its hold on Ondo, and make significant progress in the South Eastern states, starting with Anambra.
He also hinted at upcoming changes within the party, including the introduction of electronic membership registration, promoting internal democracy, and shifting the party’s focus to be active year-round rather than just during election seasons.
