Tinubu Urges Vigilance to Counter Regional and Global Security Threats
President Bola Tinubu urged the graduates of the National Defence College (NDC) Course 32 to stay alert and take proactive measures in tackling various regional and global threats.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the graduation ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that the college has provided the participants with the necessary knowledge and strategies to address the country’s current security issues.
He highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in dealing with these threats and encouraged the promotion of democratic values both in Nigeria and across Africa. As the current leader of ECOWAS, Tinubu stated that efforts will be made to strengthen relationships and resolve ongoing challenges within the community.
The president praised the college for its ongoing excellence and integrity and promised to support its transition to a permanent site.
He also recognized the dedication of the armed forces in defending Nigeria’s borders and protecting its citizens and assured that his administration is committed to addressing the nation’s security, social, and economic challenges.
Tinubu pledged to ensure that the Nigerian military is well-equipped and capable and mentioned recent achievements, such as implementing a new national minimum wage that benefits both civilian workers and members of the armed forces.
He also discussed efforts to combat crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta, which aims to boost oil production and improve economic conditions.
Additionally, Tinubu mentioned plans to create a business-friendly environment that promotes value addition in the mining sector, working with international partners to develop strategies that will enhance this sector’s potential for national security.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that 111 participants from the Nigerian armed forces, as well as from 19 other friendly nations, graduated from the college. Participants also included members of the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, and key government ministries, departments, and agencies.
