Clark Urges Damagun to Act for PDP Survival Without Wike
Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has urged the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagun, to remove the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Nyesom Wike, from the party to ensure its survival.
In an open letter, Clark explained that the former Governor of Rivers State, Wike, is allegedly leveraging his close relationship with President Bola Tinubu to intimidate Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and undermine the party.
Clark, a leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), expressed his concerns during a press briefing in Abuja, stating that he could not stand by and allow Wike to continue pressuring the governor.
As a leader in the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), Clark emphasized that his political experience far predates Wike’s birth and warned Damagun that if they don’t stop Wike, the situation could backfire on him, Wike, and their associates.
Clark, who is currently writing a book titled “PDP: To Be or Not to Be,” criticized Wike for his hypocritical behavior.
After previously condemning former Governors Bello Matawalle, Dave Umahi, and Ben Ayade for defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike is now openly aligning himself with the same party.
Clark also accused Wike of betraying those who helped him rise to power, such as former Rivers State governor Peter Odili and his wife, whom Wike had previously acknowledged as instrumental to his success.
Clark vowed not to let Wike ruin Rivers State and accused him of attempting to use the APC to sabotage the PDP from within.
