VDM vs Dangtote: Controversy Over $100m Refinery Claims

Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), has commented on the issues billionaire Aliko Dangote is facing with the Nigerian government.

Aliko Dangote, head of the Dangote Group, recently stated that neither the federal government nor Lagos state provided incentives for building his $20 billion refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

He shared this information during a visit to the refinery by House leaders on Saturday, July 20, which included Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Afterward, Africa’s richest man said he was open to transferring ownership of his massive oil refinery to the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.

Verydarkman responded to the widely shared video of Dangote’s press conference, highlighting how Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has been difficult for the billionaire.

He criticized Dangote’s claim that the refinery was built to benefit the country, suggesting it was part of his strategy to maintain a monopoly.

VDM suggested that instead of selling the refinery to NNPC, Dangote should renegotiate his deal with the government. According to VDM, finding a mutual agreement with the government might help resolve his current issues better than selling the refinery outright.
