Doyin Opens Up About Not Knowing Prices of Most Items

BBNaija star Doyin David admits she’s out of touch with everyday living costs in Nigeria and relies on others for tasks like shopping.

In a recent interview with media personality Olufemi Daniel on his podcast, Doyin confessed she doesn’t know the price of anything in Nigeria.

Though she doesn’t shop herself, she feels for Nigerians facing economic difficulties.

She shared a story about visiting a market and being brought to tears by the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Doyin Explains Why She’s Unaware of Prices in Nigeria

“I am the most disconnected Nigerian you can meet. I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t know the price of anything. I don’t go to the market. I send my chef, and they don’t tell me the prices.”

“I hear about the hardship in the country, and I sympathize with Nigerians. I know it must be tough. I see it in the rising costs of wigs, makeup, nails, cars, and houses. But I’m not familiar with the prices of things like tomatoes. I’m sure food is expensive.”

Highlighting Hardship in Nigeria

“It’s sad because people are suffering. I went to a market in Ogba once, and I cried because I saw how people were struggling. People reacted to N50,000 like it was N5 million, showing how bad things are.”

“It’s very sad. We hope that one day, the average Nigerian can at least afford to eat. That’s the basic need. But we’re not there yet. I hope we get there someday. I don’t want to talk about politics because I don’t know much about it.”

“I just think Nigeria is in a bad state with this kind of leadership. The problem is the people who are supposed to care about us don’t. I don’t see a solution anytime soon. So I tell people, ‘Do your best to take care of yourself and your family, and if you can move abroad, do it.’”
